The world is becoming increasingly competitive. It is simply no longer a luxury to leverage corporate data as a strategic asset. Margins are thinning and competitive advantage is more difficult to achieve every year. Businesses are increasingly investing in business intelligence (BI) as the infrastructure which allows them to turn data into the knowledge to make better strategic and operational decisions. The BI Roundtable is a monthly forum designed to bring business and IT leaders together to discuss issues, collaborate on strategy and solutions, and work together toward a common goal: better use of knowledge assets and information technology to drive business performance.

The BI Roundtable is hosted at the Illinois IT Association in downtown Chicago. Events are free, and light breakfast is served. Networking and lively conversation are always a focus, and outside speakers often present on various topics. Our first meeting was in September, 2008.  In the last year, we have addresses issues vital to establishing successful business intelligence initiatives in companies of all shapes and sizes, such as:

  • Best practices and anti-patterns
  • Defining achievable scope in your projects and initiatives
  • Achieving strategic alignment between IT and the business
  • Data governance
  • Data stewardship
  • Agile BI
  • Tools comparisons
  • Case studies
  • And much more

Many of the contributors to this blog are members of the ITA and regular contributors to the BI Roundtable as well. Outside speakers have also included:
